The Blogging Phenomenon
Ever since the invention of the internet it has become easier for opinions and information to be expressed. Blogging has fairly recently taken off as famous fashion bloggers have now become the centre of the fashion world. Bloggers such as the Style Rookie have captured the ideas of designers and magazine editiors with there imagination. Now it's easier for people on the street to share there views and opinions about current events and anything else that might catch you mind.

Designs for Zuhair Murad
For my Marketing and Promotion project I've had to do a re-branding. I have chosen Zuhair Murad, the fabulous Haute Couture designer. I'm trying to bring back a more high street level although he already has a ready to wear collection, it mainly for people with a celebrities budget. So I thought that it would be a brilliant idea if I could show the possibility of his kind of garment being accessible to the wider market.
It's been 4 years since she released Back to Basics, which took a lot of influence from the 20's 30's and 40's, but Aguilera has released a fantastic new album- Bi-On-Ic, this album is moving with times and has a electric pop feel to it but she keeps her oldest fans happy with a couple of melodic ballads.
However, I'm really liking this newest sound, Always one to try and push herself this album is a testament to her status as one of pop's finest. Her first single of the album, Not Myself Tonight I think will be hit in the clubs and a great summer anthem. Below is a link so you can see her video.

If this project was real!!!
If this project was a real relaunch of the Zuhair Murad brand then the relaunch party and or event would need to have publicity and advertisement throughout the fashion world. When a brand is launch a press release is sent out to the fashion magazines, news channels and blogs. However, to hit the right target market you must hit the on the right market level with your press release, it would of no use to target lower end high street stores if your brand is for example a high-end evening wear.
So with my brand I would have to hit the stores like Karen Millen and Coast, so the my competitors could see what I have produced. I would want to target the higher end of Fashion Magazines, so I would target Elle, Vogue, Tatler and Harper's Bazaar. When advertising on New channel's, I could go for mainline news of I could try and focus just on Fashion Television. So I think that I would try and get a repeated slot on Fashion TV. I would also put it on YouTube, although it not for News but if you make hit on YouTube there is no end to where the information can spread. I would also ask Sky News and possibly the BBC to put it on their news.
There are three main Fashion blogs that I would try and get to advertise the relaunch.

http://goop.com/

I haven't decided to really advertise in newspapers because the market for newpapers is slowly shrinking If i had to however, then I would probably got for the Daily Mirror.

“Although his spring summer collection is loaded with historical echoes, it is made contemporary through the juxtaposition of references; heavy with rough with smooth, shapes over, rawness there. There are folds, rushes and layers of the finest materials to create its passion and purity.”

Ok so here is another piece of work for my Fashion Promotion and Marketing project. This is my swing tag, if my relaunch of the Zuhair Murad highstreet line were to go ahead then this would be the swing tag for the line. I have also had to creat the logo for the line, so I decided that I would keep it fairly simple and use his name.

Mood Board
For my Fashion Promotion and Marketing module I have to do a rebranding and I decided to do Zuhair Murad but firstly I had to do a mood board on myself. My mood board was about everything that inspires and influences me.
The second moodboard is one on the label that I'm rebranding.
The last of my moodboard is trying to demonstrate my target market and my main competitors. As i am trying to hit the evening wear target market, I would pit myself against the like of Monsoon and Coast. I would want to aim for the high end of high street so that my garment could have the best standard of materials and manufacture for high street.
Summer is here but all I have to wear is Jeans!!!!!
Ok so up until a couple of weeks ago the weather down in Plymouth hadn't been Hot, so at Easter when i went home it didn't occur to me to switch some of my clothes over. So for the photo shoot i had the trouble of it's boiling outside and all I had to wear were jeans, luckily I had some great mates who loaned me shorts and a skirt, but obviously I couldn't keep them.
So I went on a little shopping spree in Primark. I found myself some gorgeous new skirts, shoes and accessories.
The gladiator sandals above were £4 and they are really comfortable, although they are rather simple I like because of that. The two flower hairslides were £1 for the pair. I thought with the blue skirt that they complemented each other. The skirt was £9 again from Primark, was a really nice find. It made of polyester, but it's actually quite nice to wear and with the little bow detail its really sweet.
The other skirt which is modelled by me is again from primark, and was only £5!!!!! The first time I saw this skirt it was completely sold out in the Plymouth store, however yesterday it was back in and i was able to pick it up. The belt I'm wearing is also from Primark and was originally £3 but i got for £1.:) So all in all my little shopping spree was great, they have loads of amazing fashions at Primark at really great prices!

Street Style Report- Men VS Women
The men of Plymouth hit on style central this week, as I and my fellow Fashion student Yarn Mayhem, went out in search of street style. We found the women of Plymouth to be slightly lacking in the fashion department, whist the men took great strides. From cardigans with outrageously fantastic blue pointed toed boots to the sleek working man wear. I think that the men of Plymouth have shown that they know how to dress.
However, the women of Plymouth that we did find were very good, well sculptured looks either following along the fashion codes or taking leaps into the untested and tried areas of fashion.

Size Zero on the Highstreet!!!
Ok so walking through H&M you expect to see the usual sizes, so from size 6-26, you don't however want to go in and find a Size 0. I find highly distressing that the British high street is selling clothing that is so small that it's almost childlike. Now we've seen celebrities and models striving to be this size and I find it extremely scary. The fact the entire fashion industry is still trying to make women feel that they must be a ideal weight and size is flawed and in many ways irresponsible. Many of these ideals come from magazine and the media, however you cannot tell just by looking at the picture that the model is truly that size in real life. The picture above of Kelly Osbourne has been airbrushed using Photoshop or a similar program, for a radio one show, to make her look like a size 0 and to me she looks absolutely disgusting, instead of being her usual curvaceous self she's now just skin and bone. If this is the ideal that we have to adhere to then maybe it's better break away from the ideal body image. With the average size of women in the UK going up it makes you wonder whether all this imaging is having an adverse effect. It now should be that the fashion industry take account for the amount of people that they are affecting with their modified images of the models. It's time for the fashion world to sit up and welcome diversity within the modelling industry to make sure that we show all sizes of people. I know that many designers are begining to use size 12 models on the catwalks. The two models opposite were both in a reality TV show, and Miss Hunter (above) was critised for having "stocky" thighs and that she wasn't taking her diet and exercise regime seriously enough whereas the size 0 Miss Berglund was praised for having the sensational body from modelling!
At the end of the day I'd rather look at a "normal" size person walking down the catwalks of the world rather than a skeletal figure. Although some designers say that a size 0 to size 6 is easier to dress, it doesn't make it right to make women strive to achieve the illusive ideal.

Zuhar Murad!!!
Zuhair Murad is a fabulous Haute Couture and Evening Wear designer. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1995 he opened his first Atelier, to show his work. In 2001 his collection was shown at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week and from there is popularity has risen and his designs are now highly sought after by celebrities.
I have chosen Zuhair Murad as my inspiration for the re-branding project for school. I love his use of flowing lines and dramatic fabric manipulations. His use of embroidery is amazing, helping to create and reflect the lines and curves.

Maxi Dresses
Monsoon £160
Maxi dresses are one of the hottest sessions trends, but I am always worried because I under 5"2 that they will just make me look wider and shorter than I really am. I think that maybe for shorter women the answer is to get out your sewing machines. Saying this there are some lovely maxi dresses on the high street. Monsoon are doing some beautiful evening maxi dresses. Each of the one above, are £160, which if you are looking for something that will last and survive from season to season them go for these, they are classic but with the right amount of colour and volume to suit many different women.
If you are looking for something more simple and something more for one season than for many is the New Look Maxi Dress opposite for only £15. This is the perfect dress if you wanted a simple dress that you can accessories then this is the dress for you. And for £15 it is a complete bargain.
If you are looking for something running along the middle price ranges then got to River island and pick up the one in the centre top. For £35 it is perfect for someone who wants something slightly more up market but that won't break the bank.

Try it on!
Ok so here is my first proper blog. Something that truly annoys me is when women go into shops and think that they will immediately fit into to the size they are wearing.
One of the biggest fashion faux pass anyone can make is wearing something that is too small for them or oppositely something that is swamps them and I'm not talking about the big baggy jogging bottoms, you wear after a long day of hard work and bad weather. Unfortunately wherever I look women are wearing dressing in clothes that do Not fit.
The worst thing you could possibly do is pick up the same size as you are wearing, from a different store just because you think it might fit. The best thing to do is take the same item in your size, and the size above into the changing rooms. Trying things on is essential to making sure that you have something that is ideal to fit you.
The truth is that the size is just a number, we all love to say things like I'm a size 10 or size 8 but if you haven't got the correct size for your body then what would be the point in buying it?
So whether you are a size 6 or size 26, don't worry about the number on the shirt, simply try it on and make sure that it fits you.
Hope this was helpful,
Sara
